Service Termination: May 1st, 2016

Effective immediately, BigBoard no longer accepts new customer registrations and on May 1st, 2016 will cease fetching new data for our customers. Currently active subscribers will be able to log in to access their data until June 1st, 2016, and thereafter, the service will be offline. In the interim, BigBoard is free for all active subscribers; your credit cards will not be charged again.

What Happened?

What began as nascent idea in 2012 to help The Outfit’s staff feel more connected and on top of the pulse of our company, BigBoard evolved into a niche service that helped individuals understand what was happening in the web services they utilized to power their organizations.

While interest in, and perception of, BigBoard has always been positive, it never quite reached the adoption rate needed to be profitable. After a few pivots, we struggled to justify allocating significant time toward it and decided to fold the BigBoard team back into our consulting operation, giving BigBoard a chance to marinate and hopefully yield some organic adoption.

Now more than two years since our initial launch, it has become apparent that adoption simply isn’t going to materialize in the way we had hoped. Since we still can’t justify taking people off of client work to advance it, we find ourselves trapped in an unsatisfiable do … while loop that costs our company a lot of money each month. We forced ourselves to make a tough decision.

It saddens us to suspend BigBoard’s operation and we apologize to our current active subscribers who may be disappointed, but it is simply no longer viable for The Outfit to continue operating BigBoard at a loss. It’s time to shut it down.

We want to thank all of BigBoard’s customers for their support, as well as everyone that gave us great feedback and advice along the way. We learned a lot about a lot of things through the development of this service, and look forward to perhaps relaunching an amazing new iteration of BigBoard… someday.
